Windsor Winter 10km, Eton, 10km road. Dave Bell arrived in Windsor and found his half marathon cancelled, scores of duathletes being treated for hypothermia and just the 5 and 10km races available. Dave says “it was the coldest and wettest race of my life,” but he won the 10km in 32.39 beating 281 frozen runners.

ARC South West Chilly Road Relays, Castle Combe, 4 x 3.7 miles road

Four Cirencester youngsters came fifth in this very competitive event. The four legs of two laps on the race circuit were run in a cold rain with the team clocking consistent times.  Luke Campbell (20.08) ran leg 1, then Oliver Pritchard (20.15), Jacob McAdam (20.53) and Isaac McAdam (20.05) with an overall time of 1.21.23.  Bristol & West AC 1.17.21 won. The fastest leg was Ben Cole (Swindon Harriers) (18.11). 43 teams finished.

 

Gloucester Road Race Series 2017 awards. Gloucester,s Mayor, Steve Morgan and Sheriff Paul Toleman presented the awards at the Civic Suite in Gloucester. The best results in eight of twelve races earned the competitive Kate Sackett and the consistant Ruth Fulford well deserved County gold medals whilst the ubiquitous Barbara Thomas won a silver in her age-group. The Ciren ladies were third in both the open and veteran team competitions.

 

Linda Franks '5', Cheltenham, 5 miles road. David Wright made an excellent start  to his season running a fine race to finish 37th in 31.28, earning a well- deserved 1st V60. Alex Lee (26.01) (Cheltenham & County Harriers) won and 229 finished

 

Gloucester ½ Marathon, Quedgeley, 13.1 miles road.  Rob Tuttle (1.53.54) was first home for Ciren in 171st and was followed by fast improving Rachel Barrow (2.06.40) in 273rd. Barbara Thomas (2.16.49) was 305th. Joshua Habgood-Coote (Bristol & West AC) won in 1.18.46. 356 finished

 

Parkruns, 5km trail.

 

Swindon. 4th Luke Buck (18.53) and 23rd Sam Cook (20.47) are both juniors, both set            PB’s last week, doing so again this week. The other finishers were; 47 Tom Prosser (J) 21.57, 111 David Moss 24.19, 227 Barbara Thomas 28.16. 468 finished
Chippenham: 42 Alan McAdam (25.16) enjoyed a parkrun whilst his sons ran well at Castle Combe. 144 finished
Gloucester North: Ruth Fulford ran a gritty 29.51 to achieve 64th out of 101.
Killerton, Exeter Ian Barrett (19.39) made a worthwhile trek to come 4th  and 250 finished.
Minehead:Nick Holliday (20.14) was a fine 5th and Caroline Cotterell (22.54) came 13th and 3rd lady. 114 finished.
