A strong field of 23 Cirencester AC runners were prominent among the leading overall and category positions in a fast and competitive Bourton 10k race last Sunday. Topping the results the club won the men’s and women's team trophy.

Cirencester’s Dave Bell opened out a clear lead in the early stages around the village but was hauled in by a chasing trio by half distance and was beaten into third place at the finish. Not far behind was a close battle between Bill Leggate and Adrian Williams. Adrian was ahead for most of the race but an excellent run by Bill in his best time for a while saw him cross the line eighth and first in the M40 category with Adrian tenth 13 seconds behind.

Others to achieve age category success were Jenny Manners who was the club’s leading lady in 30th overall and fourth lady. More female success came from Jo Musk winning the F35 category and Kate Sackett who was first F55 across the line.  Ian Barrett was another of the club’s success stories with second place in the M45 category and 28th overall. There were second and third male and female 60 plus age category places for Dave Wright and Nick Holliday and Pam Wheeler and Barbara Thomas.
